Graduation Subway Art 2021

Every year since 2017, I think, I've uploaded a graduation subway art image for others to use for free.

And, every year since 2017, some lovely blog reader has emailed me asking when I'm going to upload the current year's subway art.

Not this year.

Holiday Chalkboard Art

If you are a sucker for subway AND chalkboard art, you should treat yourself to this free holiday download and printable at Smile Like You Mean It.

Which can't be a cuter name for a blog, in my opinion.

You can also find last year's adorable subway art here.  Need a gift idea?  Either printable would be an adorable gift framed :)

Enjoy!

Easter Subway Art by Lil O

Lil O loves making subway art with me.  I realized we must make our fair share of it as she now uses the word "font" with ease.  For example, when we were skiing last week, she pointed to the trail sign and said, "Hey look, they used a different font on this sign!"  She was correct.  For whatever reason, the ski signage on that peak used a different font for their signs.

I asked Lil O how she knew the word "font" and she replied, "You always ask me to choose a font."

Evidently, subway art aids vocabulary development.

Now, I love it more.  "It" being subway art because I can't possibly love Lil O more.  Famous last words.

Enjoy - and click here to download the artwork made by Lil O (and me as her assistant).

xoxo,

Jen

PicMonkey {for Tech Tuesday} + Free Download

Since still mourning the loss of Picnik, I have at least embraced PicMonkey.  It is almost the same as Picnik - easy to use, lots of cool fonts, neat effects and it's free.  I do miss Picnik's ability to connect directly to Facebook and Picasa photos, though.  That made photo editing sooooo easy.

With that said, PicMonkey is doing the trick lately as evidence by the faux chalkboard art I created above.  If you want to make your own faux chalkboard art, download the chalkboard backgrounds here.  Then, upload your favorite background into PicMonkey.  To make the chalkboard art, I chose fonts that looked semi-chalkboard-ish and then faded them about 25% and blended them using the "difference" option.  You can see those features in the PicMonkey screenshot below.

PicMonkey is also easy-to-use for photo-editing, in case you want to embrace it for what is was most likely intended for.  Also, if you'd like a free download of the art I created above, click here and enjoy.  I think the art would look snazzy framed or on a bulletin board in your classroom.  Plus, I love that quote by Sue Monk Kidd.  My dreams are definitely lined up in a queue.

Onward, you photo-editing-art-creating-amazing-blog-reader,

Jen

PS - Special thanks to Kellie at Nest of Posies for the post that inspired this new pastime.

I don't know about you, but I am a sucker for a good chalkboard look lately.  In fact, I have big plans for a chalkboard wall in our kitchen.  More on that another day.

If you like the holiday, chalkboard art pictured above, go to a delicious blog, Nest of Posies to download it.  I think it is tremendously adorable - the art and the blog.

xoxo,

Jen

PS -  Come back this week to see how to use a free web tool to make your own chalkboard art, K?  I will also share some Jedi birthday party photos, too :)

Subway Art for the Holidays

I shared this free, printable subway art last year.  Guess what?  It is still available, again, this year.

It is continues to be so darn cute.

What a great gift to print out and frame for the holidays.  Or make home holiday decor for yourself.

Get it here.

Happy Black Friday,

Once again, before Picnik.com goes offline, I whipped up some graduation subway art.  This was made especially for a colleague, but I am ready for all the May and June graduations now, too.

After creating the subway art, I used Publisher to enlarge the image and printed it out on cardstock.  Then, using a simple dollar store frame, I framed it.  If you'd like the subway art to use, just right click here for it.

An easy peasy gift or decoration.

Yay, graduates!

Jen

PS - My colleague and friend, AB, made the adorable tassel that you see embellishing the frame in the top photo.  She made the faux tassel out of embroider thread.  Clever, huh?

Jedi's Subway Art

Before Picnik.com becomes a thing of the past on April 19th, 2012, Lil O and I thought we'd whip up some puppy subway art for Jedi.  Since Jedi has received many doggie gifts, we are using the subway art to adorn his thank you cards.

Doesn't he have the best puppy manners?  Writing his own thank you notes?

Ha!

Lil O loved thinking up the words to describe Jedi, picking the fonts and colors, and helping to arrange the layout.  She's a mini-graphic designer in training.  If Mr. UpCyclist is reading, I meant mini "engineer" in training :)

Happy Weekend, Upcyclists,
Jen
